Africamp Post 2003

The Times recommends. We all knew it anyway - but now a top national newspaper agrees too: Africamp is great!

We have been given the seal of approval by The Times newspaper - they rate our Africamp expedition as one of the UK's top gap year projects! Read the article here.

Africamp ends. Everyone flew safely back to the UK & Northern Ireland last week and I'm sure most of the photos will be developed by now - hope they turned out ok!

As for the Africamp Post - it will remain online until next year, when it will be archived away (but still available). Any big news from the projects that happens between now and next July will also be pasted up - so pop back every now and then!

For all you expeditioners who want to reminisce about the good ol' days - or give advice to future Africampers (like if you were doing the trip again what essential item would you take?) - there is the Adventure Alternative message board community. Visit it at www.adventurealternative.com/community

Any other questions about the site can be sent to me at richard@adventurealternative.com
For questions about going on an expedition e-mail chris@adventurealternative.com

That's it for now ... Enjoy the rest of the British summer!

Kwa heri!

Honours even. The football re-match was postponed until today - and this time Nairobi won on penalties after the game was tied 2 all at full time. It was a match full of controversy - long to be remembered by the people of Malindi, I'm sure.

Unfortunately the weather here hasn't picked up - it was sunny this morning, but soon clouded over. Last minute tanning before we leave was made impossible. But yesterday evening was beautiful - a great setting for BBQ'd fish, chicken and baked potatoes. The kids who we brought from Muthurwa Primary School in Nairobi enjoyed an evening swim ...

Six people made use of the last day here by taking an introductory scuba dive at the near-by coral reefs. The morning was spent in a hotel swimming pool, then it was out to sea for 45 minutes. There were plenty of fish to see - and one sea turtle. No sharks thankfully!

Below Noel can be seen going over the edge of the speed boat in James Bond style ...

Tomorrow we leave early for Nairobi - all that remains is to do some last minute souvenir shopping before flying home in a couple of days.
